Why I chose Cloudentity

About two years ago, I wrote a blog post detailing how the IAM world needed to change. For years practitioners had been screaming from the rooftops that we needed to find a way to manage how we dealt with identity management, access management, and governance. Spreadsheets and Perl code would no longer be sufficient; we needed automated tools and be a central part of the security story. Well, we accomplished that goal. Identity is now a critical part of security infrastructures, and all is well, right? Wrong. One of the things I love about working in the technology field is that nothing stays the same. Things are constantly evolving, so identity is no different.

The era of cloud computing completely changed how we build and deliver applications. We no longer think of delivering applications in years or months; we think in weeks and days. We build applications meant to connect and share data. We work from beaches, offices, and airplanes and extended the workforce to include contractors, suppliers, partners, and customers. Our old centralized, monolithic way of managing all of this simply won’t work.

So what does any of this have to do with why I chose Cloudentity? Patience, my friend, I’m getting there. Identity and Access management sits at the precipice of disruption. We need to manage identities in the millions, with the accuracy of a single person. We have to do it simply so the business can adopt it. It’s going to take looking at our challenges differently and moving at the same speed as the business. With new regulations like CCPA, GDPR, and CDR, new innovation areas like fintech and open banking, there are many exciting new challenges to solve. I’m excited to join a company that’s up for the challenge.

I’ve always been a fan of Cloudentity and the vision they set. Let’s move identity to the edge and be in lockstep with the developers, not to slow them down, but accelerate their development, even more, all while giving the business simple, centralized ways to govern it all. Beyond the tech, they have a group of fun, motivated people excited to help customers tackle their challenges today and help plan for tomorrow’s challenges. I’m beyond happy to be here and can’t wait to help lead the industry into the next wave of solutions.
